According to the Customs Department's latest report, law enforcement officers intercepted a batch of unauthorized goods at the Kwai Chung Terminal in Hong Kong on December 1, involving a value of about HK$23 million. The shipment was found hidden inside a container purporting to transport machinery and equipment.

Through intelligence analysis and risk assessment, law enforcement officers successfully targeted the cargo ship, which was expected to travel to South Asia. Upon inspection, it was found that a large amount of undeclared goods were hidden in four pieces of machinery and equipment in the container.
The Customs and Excise Department has indicated that it will continue to step up its enforcement efforts and adopt advanced risk management systems and intelligence-oriented strategies to crack down on various types of non-compliance. Under the relevant legislation, transportation of undeclared goods in contravention of the law is punishable by a fine of up to HK$2 million and imprisonment for up to seven years. The investigation of the case is still in progress.
